1. That you while an Inspector of Nuisances

in the employ of the Sanitary Board of Hongkong corruptly and
in breach of your duty as an officer employed by the Govern-
ment of Hong-Kong from November 1895 until July 1897
received money from the keepers of an illegal public gaming
house at No.2 Wa Lane in Victoria, Hong-Kong such money bein
Cheng obtained from the keepers of the said gaming house by Tseng
Yut Po a person in the employ of the said Sanitary Board
and acting as Interpreter for you and being paid to your
mistress on your account and with your knowlege and con-
sent and on condition that you would not report the exist-
ence of the said gaming house to the Government of HongKong
or disturb the keepers thereof.
