I paid the sums set against the names of each of the above Constables daily to Tang Kam to pay to them.

I know that the money must have been paid to them by Jangkam because none of them ever came to trouble me about the gambling house.

I am personally acquainted with Lenny Lam, It Chi, Au Sting, Un Sting, Wongstall, and Wong Part. I am not personally acquainted with Lung Shing, Wong Kung, & Ng Yan.

Lenne Leung ham, Un Sting, Wong Just & Wong Path have all been to my place at No 3 East Street to settle about this much money.

The others have not been. I know that Lung Shing, Wong Keung, & Ng Yan are in the Detective Staff.

The whole of the Chinese Detective Staff knew of my gambling house at No 2 Wa Lane. The Chinese Detectives are continually going round on their rounds, and it would be impossible for them not to notice a gambling house like that at No 2 Wa Lane.

If they did not actually see it they would hear of it from the people. Everyone knew that the Chinese Detectives were in the receipt of bribes from my gambling house.

I never attempted to conceal my gambling house from the Chinese Police. My servants at the gambling house never shut the door when the Chinese Police were passing.

No notice whatever was taken by the Chinese Police for all the Detectives were in the pay of the gambling house and the Ordinary Constables could get their share.
