There I charged Sam man who had opened the cupboard in which the tin box had been found, with keeping a gaming house and with advancing money for the purposes of gaming. I made a hurried examination of these papers and found that a list of persons in the pay of the gambling Establishment had fallen into my hands.
I separated the incriminatory papers from the others and put them into my pocket while I returned the account books to the box and the whole conveyed to the Central Station under Ord: 7 of 1891.
Five other persons, arrested in the house with playing gambling, were brought before the Magistrate on the following day and remanded for 8 days, the first defendant being bailed in $1000 and the five others in 25 dollars each.
