14. With regard to the corruption of officers in other departments of the service, I shall address you in separate despatches.

The cases of Mr. Odinund, First Clerk in the Registrar General's Office, and Mr. Hore, Inspector of the Sanitary Board, who have been tried before the Executive Council are dealt with in my despatches No. 174 and No. 175 of this date. I have caused the names of such officers as are mentioned in the list discovered by the Captain Superintendent of Police to be forwarded to the Heads of the Departments concerned for strict enquiry and report. Whilst I fear that it will be impossible to obtain proof of their guilt, I will spare no trouble to endeavour to bring them to justice, and in my endeavours I count upon the ready...
