San Jin then the Java names of certain persons who had acted intermediaries to carry briberies a number of persons were arrested. The statements of several of these men who did not admit their guilt are given in lucks O, P, & Q, evidence given in every case is of the most flimsy description, from the nature the character of the witnesses is clearly not reliable, while documentary evidence, which is intelligible only when explained by the writer, is more or less corroboratory of the state, not satisfactory.

I have not the slightest hesitation made Lay mente. Four of those arrested however viz Preuz it to Interpreter to Inspector Hore, Wan Sing Hand District watchman, to the guilt of the three MAQL who have hitherto been tried, but I am Cheng On ex Police Man, Tong Kame au Ex Policeman made statements between 12th of 19th July with the result that Inspector Witchell was prosecuted for bribery 6 months imprisonment & dismissed the force.

It was considered that sufficient evidence was adduced to bring Mr Hore before the Executive Council. The evidence of these and punishments awarded in each three cases are forwarded in separate Sec 20085, 20054 Despatcher, I write with them separately. Generally speaking however I must say that I am very surprised that witchure the criminal charge.

The government has interdicted from duty Inspectors Stanton, Zurücey, kaher & sergeant Holl & every effort is being made to procure sufficient evidence to bring them to justice. There appears to me to be very strong evidence against Stanton & I hope it may be found possible to court him dother.

With regard to the future, I think it is necessary to take rigorous measures to deal effectually with these illegal gambling houses.
