posed of 141 Civilians, and of 127 officers and gentle-

tary and Naval Forces, has recently acquired under a Lease to be dated 22nd June 1897 certain new
links in the southern por-
tion of Hongkong. Looking
to that date and to the
recent and most loyal cele-
bration of Her Majesty's
auspicious Jubilee in this Colony, I beg to express a hope that the Petition which I now have the honour to make will, through your kind interposition, be graciously and favourably received by
Her Majesty
the Queen and
Empress.
