Regarding the rate at which he draws his pension whilst residing in Japan.

As it is the intention of the Japanese Government to adopt the gold standard from the 1st of October next, I presume there is no objection to Mr Barff drawing his pension at the same rate of exchange as that at which he would be entitled to draw it if he were residing in England or any other country whose currency is based on a gold standard.

I presume also that Japan is to be regarded as a gold standard country from the 1st October next for purposes of leave salary.
