The above facts are of interest and importance bearing on the view of the case set forth in paragraph 8 of the Petition. Many of the signatories, I believe, were interested in the original undertaking and not unnaturally view with disfavour the loss to the Civil community of the benefits of a costly enterprise.

I do not propose to deal in detail with the several points raised by the Petitioners, but an important aspect of the case is the limited number of available houses and building sites at the Peak, which is rapidly becoming the chief residential quarter for Europeans owing to the gradual encroachment of the native population on the upper levels immediately.
