That on June 1st 1897 the Director again left, and that upon his recommendation His Excellency the Governor has appointed Mr. F. G. Figg, who is my junior, to be acting Director in his absence, the arrangement having been managed to secretly that I was afforded no opportunity of protesting against them, or of asserting my claim to the temporary appointment.
That no reason has been given to me for this departure from the usual course.
And I respectfully submit that an injustice has been done to my reputation thereby, I lay the fact before you in the hope that you will grant me such redress as you may think desirable in the case.
