the Colonial Secretary value of the securities held in trust in the vaults of the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China against the note issue of the Bank in this Colony.

We certify that on the 4th June 1897 we inspected the deposit of the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China as security against their note issue in this Colony and found it correct.
The Security consists of a deposit of Three hundred and ninety six thousand one hundred and sixty seven dollars ($396,167) and Japanese Government bonds to the amount of Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250,000).
The total security, valuing the Bonds at 95% of their nominal value, amounts to Six hundred and thirty three thousand six hundred and sixty seven dollars ($633,667).
