From this correspondence you will observe that the General Officer Commanding desired the Colonial Government to place on record its view as to the general position of land held as Military Reserve.
My reply of the 22nd April, 1897, which forms one of the enclosures to this despatch, sets forth the views entertained by me, but at the same time I reminded the General Officer Commanding that the question had been referred to the Secretary of State for the Colonies and that I had not yet received his answer.
