Ra 27.AY 7,

Report by the Registrar of the Supreme Court

7

I forward copy of Mr Robinson's opinion and Mr. Holmes' report. I have also conferred with Mr. Holmes upon the subject and both he and Mr. Robinson appear to me to have done all that is consistent with the facts of the case. I would suggest that Falconer be furnished with copy of Counsel's opinion and told that the Government cannot interfere on her behalf any further.

There is one important fact to be noted and that is that even if Matthew Falconer's illegitimacy were proved, a most doubtful point, there are no assets whatever and what object can be gained by instituting further enquiry I fail to see - quite apart from the considerable expense, which there is no one to meet, that further enquiry outside the Colony would necessitate.

The Chief Justice who has seen these papers also thinks that in the face of Mr. Robinson's careful report, the Court should not, so long as the facts remain as they are, require the Counsel or Solicitor assigned for the petitioner to take any further proceedings in the matter.

15th April 1894.

Sd...W. Norton Kyshe,

Registrar.
