of Nuisances for this Colony at a salary of $100 a month with $20 a month allowance for quarters, instead of the terms previously suggested.

In view of the enclosed list of recent advertisements for Inspectors of Nuisances at home, which has been furnished to me by the Sanitary Board, I am disposed to think that the remuneration now offered, which with the house allowance is equivalent to about £150 a year, should be sufficient to secure the services of properly qualified men.
They should be engaged in the first place on a three years' agreement, at the end of which time, if they desired it and their services had been satisfactory, they could be placed upon the permanent staff, with such salary and allowances as might be agreed upon.
