has been called upon to retire at a
somewhat earlier date than he had him-
self contemplated, I am willing to
treat his case as an exceptional one,
and to allow the addition of 5 years
to be made. J am not however prepared
to approve the further addition pro-
posed in paragraph 4 of your despatch.
He may therefore be given a pension at
the rate of 33ths of his emoluments.

2. I have caused an application
to be addressed to the India Office in
regard to the pension, if any, which
may be awarded to him for his service
under the Indian Government.
