your despatch No.98 of the 8th May last. I consider Dr Atkinson well qualified for
the post and in view of his past good services, especially during the plague last year, and of his local experience I strongly
recommend his
appointment to your favourable consideration.

In
appointing a successor to Dr. Ayres,
I think it
would be well to change the
present title of the post,
