Miss Mead was engaged by the Braune Agents in September 1895, in consequence of my dispatch No. 232 of the 19th July 1895 and arrived in the Colony in November 1895. I enclose a copy of her medical certificate to the effect that she is unfit for further service in a tropical climate.

As it is urgently necessary to fill the vacancy without delay, I telegraphed to the Braune Agents on the 28th of December as follows:
