Secretary of State for the Colonies for allowing me such extension of leave as has enabled me to pass, without break, from one branch of the Civil Service to another. 4. My new duties will commence on 1st proximo. My extended leave expires on 5th January 1874. Under the circumstances, I would request that it may be considered to terminate on the date of my transfer to the service of the Home Office.
