I have the honor to apply for extension of leave. From my leave paper which I annex you will see that I only applied for 6 months and a days leave of absence. I now desire to spend the winter session of 1896-7 at Edinburgh University, working at Bacteriology and Public Health in its practical aspects.
My wife is not at present in good health and was sent to Switzerland to recuperate. I showed her to the Honorable the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies. I would like to remain six months longer.
