His general health has non improved. It is impossible for him to return in the Spring, as he could not stand the summer here present in Hong Kong.

I saw Mr Jones the other day when he called, decided (on 16609) that his leave could not be extended, I think certain facts of me were not before aware part of the complex iow the case.

He is due back at Hong Kong on the 21st Jany next; but at that date the Queen's College commences a mouth's holiday & he will be simply there doing nothing like the 20th Feby. If he is allowed to stay in England till the 10th Feby on mora so he will be able to reach a sixth term for the purpose of being called to the bar. That will leave him only four to keep, which could be easily done, whereas keeping five terms would necessitate staying in England Long vacation.
