I am directed by Secretary Chamberlain to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 6th inst: and to express that he cannot reconsider the question of your transfer nor hold out any hope of being able to transfer you as a magistrate to another colony.
I am to remind you that the date to take your leave is near (you have been granted 18 months' leave) and that you were warned in the letter from this department of the 29th of February last that your wish to be called to the Bar would not be admitted to be a sufficient reason for extension if such extension is to cause inconvenience.
