The Extension would be partly out of the beneficial 6 months. The urgent private affairs that he desires to attend to would require him to be called to the Bar - for which he would I suppose want about 2 years.
He could not have more than 9 months with half salary; the rest would have to be without salary.
In the case of W. Sercombe Smith we gave leave for the same purpose for 8 or 9 months without salary; including time to read for the Bar, but he was a Cadet, and the statute allowed time for Education to qualify him to aspire to the post of Magistrate in which post being a Barrister would be an advantage.
Marathoon Seth was also given in all 3 years leave (including 4 months vacation) to get called to the Bar, but his case was...
