In C. Agents despatch no. 361 of 31st December last, it is stated that Mr. F. Clarke will, under section 20 of the Hongkong Pension Rules, be allowed to count two months of the leave now granted to him as vacation leave, although only half pay is available for him during that period.

You will be good enough to complete Mr. Carrington's papers on his arrival in the usual manner.

With reference to the letter from the Dept. of the 10th authorizing the payment of Mr. D. Carrington's leave salary from British Guiana up to the 22nd proximo, I am directed by Mr. Sec. Chamberlain to inform you that Dr. Carrington has been appointed Chief Justice of Hongkong.

The half salary of his leave may be paid.
