The Secretary of State
For the Colours
36
I respectfully beg to request through you for balance of gratuity granted to me by the Authorities, upon my being called from the Public service at Hong Kong. I received gratuity from the Colonial, but not from the H.M. Service. Joined the Home Service on the 1st March upon the 1st of May, 1892 was allowed to go to the Hong Kong Service, where I did duty, until the 6th October, 1896.
31. Oct. 1896.
I further beg that you will allow the cost of my passages to be repaid to me, it having been deducted from gratuity in Hong Kong. Several Officers upon the termination of their time abroad were allowed a refund in similar cases, but in my case it was not passed.
Your Obedient Servant,
