See also letter to Hongkong Telegraph of 22nd April last which (as M. Bullock told me) a gentleman wrote for him. He showed the originals of the testimonials there printed.
W. Lethbridge's letter of 20th March last (in 10979/95) explains why Bullock's services were not retained.
Clause 10 of his Agreement (in 13147/92) left it open to the Government to freely exercise their discretion as to his re-engagement at the end of his first term of service, and did not imply that they were bound to re-engage him subject to his conduct &c. being satisfactory.
