but I would respectfully ask that paragraph 108 should in this case be applied and that, should the leave I ask for be granted, Mr Knox be allowed to draw my lapsing half pay during the time I am on leave of absence, as it would hardly be fair to expect him to discharge the extra duties and assume the greater responsibility without compensation.
