This Office
am directed by the Secretary of State for the Colonies to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29 ultimo,
and to inform you that you have been passed as physically fit for service,
and that you have accordingly been selected for appointment as Hospital Warder in the Government Hospital, Hong Kong,
on the terms communicated to you by the letter from this Department of the 11th ultimo, subject however to the following modification:
2. The Crown Agents for the Colonies have been instructed to take your passage by the first convenient steamer.

And I am to request you to inform me whether you will be prepared to start at that time.
3. You should communicate with the Crown Agents, whose address is Downing Street, S.W., as to the agreement which you are required to sign with regard to the cost of your passage.
4. You will receive a formal letter of appointment from the Governor when you arrive in the Colony.
