I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to forward to you, to be laid before Mr. Secretary Chamberlain, the enclosed two sets of the undermentioned printed documents:
Report of Local Joint Naval and Military Committee Hong Kong. Copies numbered 26 and 27,
Remarks by the Colonial Defence Committee on above Report. Copies numbered 26 and 27.
Report XXII of the Joint Naval and Military Committee on Defence, Copies numbered 21 and 22.
I am to request that, if Mr. Chamberlain approves, one set comprising copies marked 21 and 26 may be transmitted to the Governor of Hong Kong and the other set retained in the Colonial Office for record purposes.
In conclusion I am to inform you, with reference to the concluding sentence of paragraph 1 of the Remarks of the Colonial Defence Committee above mentioned, that the General Officer Commanding the Troops in China and Hong Kong has been requested to cause the experiments therein recommended to be carried out and to report the result to this Office.
