hard, and it would be perfectly useless to apply to the Colonial Government for money for such a purpose.

5. I trust, therefore, on reconsideration of these facts, that the Board will be pleased to allow this small expenditure, which has already appeared in the Accounts.

6. If this is impossible permanently, at any rate as an act of grace to me personally during my temporary tenure of office which will expire on the 2nd of December, as if I have to refund this money, it will amount to $9000, and $200 is the total amount of the extra pay I receive for doing the Harbour Master's work for 6 months.
