Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 22nd October 1896 N° 21770/46 asking whether the War Office has concurred in the proposed arrangements in connection with the extension of the Dockyard at Hong Kong, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that the War Department have notified in a letter to the Admiralty of 10th October 1896 that they will forward a further communication as soon as the General Officer Commanding at Hongkong has reported on the Admiralty scheme.
