The Governor in his despatch concisely states the present financial position of the Colony; and it is satisfactory that notwithstanding the special expenditure caused by the recent plague last year, the growth of the Revenue (including the special proceeds of land sales) will have more than sufficed to prevent a deficit on the year's transactions.
But the Colony still requires careful economy.
This has been done in the present Estimates in which I have little to criticise.
