I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your telegram of the 18th inst, informing me that one hundred thousand dollars worth of small coins is required in Hongkong.

The wording of your telegram to the Treasury appears to be somewhat ambiguous, and I am not certain whether $100,000 dollars worth or one hundred thousand pieces was the amount required.

I request that you give instructions that the requisitions be carefully worded in future so that the number required may be always specified.
