On the 8th April 1896 I addressed His Excellency the Governor, through the Hon Director of Public Works, for information in reference to my claim for Exchange Compensation (lites. marked A and B attached).
On the 13th October 1896 I further addressed His Excellency the Governor (lite. marked C attached) and in reply (lite. marked D attached).
I earnestly pray that Your Excellency will favourably consider this matter as it is a great hardship not getting the Compensation.
My brother, a Judge of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong, born in the Colony, and of British parents, is getting around the Compensation and many Officers holding lower positions in the Government service are allowed the Compensation under the full exchange materially effects.
