6 more of the staff engaging any staff at present provided for in the Estimates under the heading Local Delivery Branch than are already employed, viz. 6 Chinese at $96 each, and 2 Chinese at $84 each.

5. In the meanwhile, one of the senior Post Office Clerks desires to undertake the responsibilities involved for the remuneration named. I have, on the recommendation of the Captain-Superintendent of Police, seconded from the Police Force, in order to learn the details of the work of the office, Police Constable Barron, who desires the appointment, and I request authority to appoint him to be Superintendent of the Registration Branch.
