Paragraph 3.

A proportionate room, i.e. 30 square feet for every 100 passengers has to be properly furnished as a Hospital. In measuring the carrying capacity of a vessel this room is not to be deducted.

Paragraph 7.

Every ship has to carry at least one Doctor and one Interpreter; for more than 500 passengers at least two; for more than 1000 passengers at least three doctors and interpreters, necessary. Chinese as well as not Chinese doctors have to prove their qualification before engagement.

Paragraph 8.

Every ship has to carry a sufficient quantity of medicines and in case of need Doctors shall have to decide their kind and quantity. A statement of medicines certified by the Captain and Doctor has to be handed to the German Consulate at least three days before sailing of the vessel.

Paragraph 9.

All passengers before going on board have to submit to a medical examination; sick or persons with infectious diseases are not to be received. The Captain has to deliver to the German Consulate previous to leaving a written statement that such examination has been gone through.

Paragraph 10.

Passengers and their luggage are only to be received on board after having taken in all the cargo.
