In reply to Your Excellency's letter No 3240, of the 24th ultimo,

I have the honour to state that, in view of the definite advice which I have received to the effect that the land in question does not come within the terms of the Colonial Office despatch of the 30th December 1894, I regret that I am unable to depart from the position taken up in my letter No 99/4 of the 6th ultimo.

I shall be obliged if Your Excellency will kindly cause me to be furnished with a copy of the letter from the Colonial Office to His Excellency the Officer Commanding
