With reference to Your Excellency's letter No. 48 of 27th ultimo, in which it was requested that Your Excellency might be informed as to what Military lands, as distinguished from Colonial lands, over which the Military Authorities were granted certain reserved rights, referred to in my letter of 22.4.96 No.379 20,

I have now the honour to forward herewith a tracing, shewing in green the lands referred to, and beg to request that a valuation of the land given up may be made in the manner specified in the Colonial Office Circular of 30th December, 1894, in order that the amount thereof may be recorded, the value of the hill tops given in exchange being noted as a charge against the sum recorded. The boundaries of the Quarry farm were settled last year.
