I have again the honour to request that you may be pleased to forward for the consideration of His Excellency the Governor my application for an increase in salary.
I would respectfully draw His Excellency's attention to the fact that the Assistant Marine Surveyor in Singapore draws a salary of $2,400 per annum. In addition to this, he has a horse allowance of $240 and is allowed to act as consulting Engineer for one steamer, for which he receives $480.
