I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your No.2139 despatch of the 1st ultimo reporting the cessation of the epidemic of bubonic plague.
I have read the despatch with interest and satisfaction. A copy of the sixth paragraph, so far as it relates to the services of the nursing sisters, has been sent to the Foreign Office for communication to the German ambassador.
It remains for me cordially to acknowledge the self-sacrificing efforts of the two nursing sisters.
