The College would be open four afternoons a week.

On Mondays and Thursdays, half the school would attend p.m. class under charge of the Head Master.

On Tuesdays and Fridays the other half would attend p.m. under charge of the Second Master.

This is an equal distribution of work to every member of the staff and (not including the preparatory school) affords the same opportunity for every scholar.

These hours cannot be viewed as excessive while at the same time they meet the desire of the Governing Body to increase the opportunities for the acquisition of English. They may be considered as fair equivalent of the average of extra duties at present performed by members of the staff.

On the other hand the intervals afforded of a couple of days provides opportunity for recuperation and prevents the extra work being too irksome, or proving injurious to health.

(2) Colloquial English.

The above changes permit of the transfer of Translation Lessons to the afternoon, and by a slight adjustment of the time table, four hours a week can be provided for the special teaching of this
