I am directed by the Governing Body to state, for the information of His Excellency the Governor, that for some time they have had under careful consideration the question of the improvement of the teaching of English in Queen's College, and that after consulting the Head Master they have adopted the following resolutions, viz:- That the Chinese school be abolished and that an easy entrance examination in Chinese be imposed;

That a portion of the time of the College be devoted special to the teaching of English Colloquial, and that the time table suggested by the Head Master in his letter No. 43 of the 8th April, a copy of which is enclosed, be adopted;

That the scale of salaries recommended by him, in consequence of these changes, be approved, and that a clerk be engaged to relieve the first two assistants of all clerical work in connection with the College, but that the salary should be fixed at $30 per mensem rising to $40 per mensem, instead of the sum mentioned in the letter.
