The Hong Kong Police is a Civil Police Force. The

Qualifications for officers (will) comprise a good physique capable

of withstanding the alterations of this very changeable tropical

climate, a knowledge of drill and the use of arms, of local laws

and of the general principles of law, of police executive work,

and departmental administration as well as the necessary tact for

managing a body of men of mixed nationality. Constables should be

men of fair education.

The laws are Ordinances 9 of 1892, 10 of 1889,

14 of 1927 and 28 of 1936 and the Rules and Regulations published

thereunder.

The pay of the various ranks of the Force is set

forth in the Police Estimates.

There is no special rule as to passage allowances

granted to officers.

Leave and pensions are granted in accordance with

Government Notification No. 132 of 10th April 1892.

The uniform is of the pattern as in the attached

specification. There is no recognised outfitter in England for the

supply of it.
