In reply to Mr Fairfield's letters, No 9151/95 of
MC 4th instant, and No 9595/95, of 13th instant, on the sub- Ject of Mr C.C.Bowring's salary as Clerk in the Audit Office at Hong Kong, and the advance made to him by the Government of that Colony, I am directed by the Comptroller
and Auditor General to acquaint you, for the information
of the Secretary of State, that Mr C.C.Bowring has now
repaid the advance of £66-13-4 to the Crown Agents.
The amount of £1-6-4, the sterling equival- ant of $13.20, the cost of a telegram sent from Hong Kong in connection with Mr Bowring's transfer, has also been
refunded to the Crown Agents.
