In this connexion I may state that reference has been made to the Local Government Board with re- gard to the disinfectants manufactured by Messrs Calvert and Company, as suggested in your despatch No. 239 of the 1st of November; and, as soon as an answer has been received from the Board, a further communica- tion will be addressed to you on the subject. I no- tice that this firm state that they are given to under- stand that a low priced disinfectant has been used in Hongkong in large quantities, and I shall be glad to have particulars showing what disinfectants have been bought locally and at what prices.
