With reference to your letter of the 28th
ultimo, No.18101/95, transmitting a copy of a despatch
(No.277 5th September 1895) from the Governor of
-
Hong Kong, submitting recommendations from the Acting
Commandant of the Hong Kong Volunteer Corps that
the qualifying period of service for the Volunteer
Officers Decoration should be fixed at 15 years in the
case of Hong Kong, and also that the "Volunteer Long
Service Medal" should be extended to Volunteers in
that Colony on the terms mentioned; I am directed by
the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you, for
the information of Mr Secretary Chamberlain, that he
concurs in the reply proposed to be made to the
Governor of Hong Kong as regards the Volunteer Officers
Decoration as set forth in the second paragraph of your
letter under reply.
As regards the Volunteer Long Service Medal,
I am to add that the Army Service of Colonial Volunteers
