July 1895,transmitting a copy of the Hong Kong Local Defence

Scheme revised up to May 1894, together with the Remarks of the

Colonial Defence Committee thereon.

In reply, I am to inform you that the Marquis of Lansdowne

approves of the Remarks of the Colonial Defence Committee and

concurs in the suggestion of Mr. Secretary Chamberlain that they

should be transmitted to the Governor of Hong Kong for the

guidance of the Local Defence Committee.
