ENTITLED
An Ordinance to further amend "The Public Health Ordinance, 1887," with regard to the constitution of the Sanitary Board.
E it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the

1. This Ordinance may be cited as The Sanitary Board Ordinance, 1895.
2. This Ordinance sball be read and construed together with The Iublic Health Ordinance, 1887, (as amended by any subsequent Ordinances now in force), hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance.
8. Sections 4, 7 and 11 of the principal Ordinance are hereby repealed.
4. In lieu of section 4 of the principal Ordinance, the words following are bereby substituted :—
The Board shall consist of three official members, viz., the Director of Public Works, the Captain Su- perintendent of Police and the Colonial Surgeon, and of two unofficial members to be elected by such rate-payers as are included in the special and common jury lists and also by such rate-payers as are exempted from serving on juries on account of their professional avocations or as members of Connell. Non-otlicial members shall hold office for three years, but are eligible for re-election. The Board, as thus constituted, shall have all the powers, privileges and duties of the Sanitary Board as constituted heretofore.
5. In lien of section 7 of the principal Ordinance, the words following are hereby substituted:
If any member of the Board shall retire or be, at any rime, prevented by absence or other cause from acting, the Governor may appoint, or if the mem- ber has been elected, the electors may elect, some other person to replace such retiring member or such member so prevented as aforesaid until he shall resume his functions.
6. In lieu of section 11 of the principal Ordinance, the words following are hereby substituted-
Any three members shall be a quorum for the despatch
of business unless the Governor in Connell sball, at any time, alter the number constituting a querum, and, at every meeting, the President or Vice-President shall preside, or, in their absence, the members present shall appoint a Chairman. The President or Vice-President, or, in their absence, the Chairman so appointed shall have a deliberative and a casting vote.
