I have the honour to bumbly request that His Excellency
the Governor may be graciously pleased to grant me an increase
of salary, so that it may be at least equal to that of the newly
appointed Medical Officer of Health. In C.S.0. NO.1246/95 regard-
ing the appointment of that officer, Dr. Atkinson, Acting Colonial
Surgeon, wrote: "I submit his salary should not exceed that of
Dr. Lowson's". My present salary is $255- per mensen which will
rise to a maxloum of $280- on November 1st. next, by which time
I will have served here for six years, during the latter two of
which term more than ordinary hard work has fallen to my share.
I have &c.

Janes A. Lowson.
Acting Colonial Surgeon.
