Wong Hing states:- I remember the day before yester-
day. I left the female Asylum Ward at 5.45
p.m. and went
to the European Asylum. I returned in 5 minutes to the re-
male Ward. I saw the European Wardmaster Cumming standing
outside the Female Wara: he was outside the door: the door
was open: he said " 'a girl is hanging". He had no key in his
hana: I aia not see the key. I dan in charge of the Female
Ward. When I left at b.45 the wara was locked by me. I left
the key in the door. I asked Mr. Cumming for the key: he
said "I dont know about the key". I went in and asked the
girl Li Sz-mui where the key was: she said "the European
Varumaster has got the key in his pocket". I understana
the girl's language: she sometimes speaks in Cantonese:
she spoke to me in Cantonese. Mr. Cumming still stood out-
side the door. He then came in anu said "you must be care-
ful of the girl". The girl tola me nothing more: I sent for
the Anah, I sent for the Amah to ask about the the key.
The Anah came. I told the Anah that she must find the key.
I had asked Mir. Cumming about the key but he said he aid
not know about it. I went into the girl's room. I saw her.
The door of the room was open, She was standing up. Her
clothes were in order. I did not observe her hair. She

Was nol crying. Che was trembling. I have not seen her
trabiing before except when a fit was about to begin. I
did not pay any attention to the bea. She was greatly agi-
tated: she did not have a fit and has not had one since.
