Enclosed I beg to send to you for the perusal of His Excellency the Governor a letter I have received from a truant of a house situate upon Marine Lot 14- N2 32 Praya Central relating to the new Drainage and Drains running through the Lot: I find it becomes necessary to send this letter on to you as the kuants are constantly complaining to me. of the defective state of the drains. "They say until the new scheme of drainage was laid down throughout the lot no trouble whatever arose with referruce to the drains when there was a well laid stone dressed drain and the write and drainage passed through such drain freely and without hindrance.
By the present new drainage system the floors of the Cook hoers of Chinesshouse are constantly bring incorlated with drainage water coming up through the gratings from the drains below and the trouble arises in numerous instances where new drainage has been laid down to Chinese houses.
