I have the honour to report that a difficulty

has arisen in regard to obtaining from the Colonial Water

Works a supply of filtered water for the Sanitarium Bar-

rack, the Government insisting upon certain conditions

which the Commanding Royal Engineer considers not only

unnecessary but undesirable to be admitted on the part

of the War Department.

I enclose a minute by the Commanding Royal

Engineer which fully states his case, together with a

copy of the Government regulations relative to water

supply.
